Twitter Over Capacity

Many members of the twitter community have seen this screen all too often, and they better get used to it. According to the official news coming from the Twitter camp, it will take quite a bit of time to permanently resolve the issues plaguing the Twitter service.

The folks over at Twitter got off to a rocky start in their handling of these problems, in particular with how they responded to the user community. Things have gotten better though, quickly. Many of the questions people have been asking, seeking to understand what is wrong, have been answered in recent posts on the Twitter Blog. They’ve also created a new Twitter Status Blog to provide updates on the status of the Twitter service.

And just yesterday, Robert Scoble sat down and interviewed some members of the Twitter team for a frank discussion about what has been happening, and to discuss the plan Twitter is following to fix these problems. I’ve included the video Scoble recorded. It’s approx 30 mins in length but worth watching.

I’m a big fan, and heavy user of Twitter, and want to see them suceed but they have significant challenges facing them. What can we, the Twitter community, do to help them improve the service and move past the current outages?

Perhaps, get involved? If you’re a developer and want to engage directly with the Twitter development team you can start by joining the Twitter Development Talk group
